Check Your Microphone
The most common reason is that your Mac has selected the wrong microphone.
We recommend using your built-in Mac microphone. It is high quality and works well with Willow.
AirPods and AirPods Pro microphones are lower quality. They may turn on without you noticing, especially when switching Bluetooth devices.
If this happens, go to your Mac audio settings and make sure the correct microphone is selected.
If you are using an external microphone, make sure it is high quality. Low-quality microphones will not pick up your words correctly.
You can select a different microphone in Willow while still using a different sound output. For example, you can use your built-in microphone for input and still use your AirPods for sound output. This will not affect dictation.
Check Your Wi-Fi
Willow requires Wi-Fi to work. Make sure your Wi-Fi is turned on and connected before starting dictation.
