Why this happens
Willow is a custom iOS keyboard. To use it anywhere on your phone (Messages, Gmail, Slack and more) you must enable the Willow keyboard in your device settings.
During onboarding, we send you to Settings › Apps › Willow › Keyboards so you can turn keyboard access on and allow full access.
However, sometimes iOS doesn’t show the Willow keyboard right away. This can happen because of:
iOS not refreshing the keyboard list
An outdated or beta version of iOS
The app not fully registering before Settings opens
Here’s how to fix it.
How to fix the missing Willow keyboard
1. Fully restart the Settings app and the Willow app
Sometimes the Settings app gets “stuck” and doesn’t refresh the available keyboards.
Do this:
Swipe up from the bottom of your screen
Swipe the Settings app away
Swipe the Willow app away
Open Willow again and retry enabling the keyboard
For most people, this fixes the issue instantly.
2. Check for an iOS software update
Many missing-keyboard issues are caused by outdated iOS versions. A quick update usually resolves it immediately.
Go to Settings
Tap General
Tap Software Update
Install any available updates
Note: Make sure you are not using a beta version of iOS.
3. Reinstall Willow and re-onboard
If the keyboard still doesn’t appear after updating:
Delete the Willow app
Restart your iPhone
Reinstall Willow from the App Store
Go through onboarding again
This forces iOS to register the Willow keyboard fresh.
