How to Change Your Dictation Time Limit in Willow

Willow has a built-in time limit for each dictation session. This is the maximum length of audio you can speak before Willow finishes your dictation and outputs the text.

Current Dictation Limits:

  • Free plan: 5 minutes per dictation

  • Paid plans: 8 minutes per dictation

These limits help keep Willow fast, accurate, and responsive. Because of the architecture behind real-time dictation and processing, having a fixed session length allows us to maintain high performance and transcription quality.

Want Longer Dictation Time?

If you're currently on the Free plan, upgrading to Willow Pro or any of our team or enterprise plans will automatically increase your dictation limit to 8 minutes per session.

You can upgrade directly inside the app.

Quick Workaround: Dictate in Smaller Segments

If you need to write something longer than the current limit, whether on the free or pro plan, you can simply dictate in smaller pieces. For example:

  • Dictate one or two sentences, pause, let Willow convert your speech to text

  • Continue dictating from where you left off

Many of our users find breaking dictation into smaller chunks actually makes their writing more focused and easier to edit.
