Why Dictionary Terms Matter

Willow improves accuracy when it knows the words you use the most.
Dictionary terms help with things like:

  • Names

  • Industry jargon

  • Acronyms

  • Slang

  • Product names

  • Any word Willow usually misspells

When Willow recognizes these terms, you’ll spend less time fixing typos and more time dictating smoothly.

How to Add Dictionary Terms

  1. Open the Willow iOS app

  2. Go to the Dictionary tab

  3. Tap the plus (+) button

  4. Add your term

  5. Save it

You can add:

  • True terms — exact words Willow should learn

  • Short terms — abbreviations or shortcuts you use

How to Add Term Replacements

If Willow keeps getting a word wrong, you can teach it the correct version.

  1. In the Dictionary tab, tap the plus (+) button

  2. Tap Enable term replacement

  3. Add your Original Text

  4. Add your Replacement Text

  5. Save it

Examples:

  • Replace “johnathon” → “Johnathan”

  • Replace “calendar link” → your actual scheduling link

  • Replace a short keyword → a full template or message

This is especially helpful for repeated emails, support replies, intros, and links.

Viewing Your Dictionary

You can browse your dictionary in four sections:

  • All Terms

  • My Terms (your personal terms)

  • Team Terms (if you’re on a Team or Enterprise plan)

  • Auto Learning (terms Willow learns automatically)

Synced Across Devices

All your dictionary terms sync across both iOS and Mac. If you add a term on Mac, it instantly shows up on your iPhone. If you add a term on iPhone, it syncs back to your Mac.
